Men's and women's cosmetics - are they different?

Surely, more than one friend has heard a story about how her husband or boyfriend “masters” her dressing table - how, having opened a jar of expensive cream, he scoops up an unimaginably large amount of cream with his big fingers and applies it to himself. And this happens all the time! Not only painfully expensive face creams and serums are quickly disappearing, but also body and hand creams , shampoos. Of course, recently the choice of men's cosmetics has really increased and we hear fewer similar stories, men prefer to choose “men's” cosmetics, but there are certainly those who continue to use “women's” cosmetics and do not worry about it. But maybe this is not so bad, if we do not consider the fact that this causes women to have to buy cosmetics more often.

How is men's skin different from women's?

So, a completely natural question arises – what is the difference between cosmetics for men and women? Can men use beauty products for women and vice versa? Will men's cosmetics really take better care of their skin? I will help you find the answers to these questions and at the same time refute several common myths. First, a little theory about the physiological differences between men's and women's skin. I don't want to sound like a feminist, but men are more successful with their skin than women. Men's skin is thicker than women's, and male hormones help maintain the right moisture balance and stimulate sebum production more strongly, so men suffer from dry skin less often. Due to the more active production of elastin and collagen fibers, men's skin is firmer and more elastic, and due to the lower skin pH, they are less likely to suffer from acne problems. I could go on and on about the advantages, but I don't want to spoil the mood for the female race, so in summary, I can only state the fact that men's skin is less oily, it is more resistant to external influences, it requires less care and ages later than women's skin. But in any case, it ages, and the fact is that less-maintained men's skin ages faster. A woman who takes care of her skin from a young age will definitely look better in her old age than a man of the same age who trusted his genes and did not pay attention to skin care. What is the difference between cosmetic products for men? When comparing cosmetics for women and men, there are certainly differences, but the materials used in the production of cosmetics are certainly the same. However, when evaluating the composition of products, I want to draw attention to the fact that products for men usually have a much poorer composition, they use more fragrances, which means more substances that can irritate the skin and cause allergic reactions. Also, manufacturers of men's cosmetics are especially fond of using alcohol, usually in aftershave products, and this substance, in addition to its disinfectant properties, also has a negative effect on the skin - it dries it, destroys the skin's protective barrier and moisture balance, and slows down skin renewal. Cosmetic alcohol is also added to men's creams, primarily because it promotes rapid absorption of the product and does not leave a noticeable film on the skin, after all, men want to apply the product and forget about it. Gentle skin care products for men So, compared to women's skincare products, men's products are definitely inferior - they are minimalist, strongly scented, and contain significantly fewer skin-friendly ingredients, so, dear ones, if you love your significant other very much, don't be too mad that he uses your cosmetics. And if you have more patience and knowledge about cosmetic ingredients, choose gentle and skin-friendly cosmetics for them.
