Healthy summer tan

This time I don't want to bore you with new scientific studies or facts, after all, summer is here and all you want to do is enjoy the warmth, celebrate life, dress up and enjoy the pleasures of summer. Let's talk about healthy-looking and tanned skin. We probably all know that sunbathing is harmful to our skin. But in the summer we wear revealing clothes and we really want our skin to get a shade and look more beautiful. So, how to achieve this without unnecessarily harming our skin?

Self-tanning creams

The simplest solution that requires the least effort is self-tanning creams. Use them every few days and you will be able to enjoy the effect of a gentle tan all summer long. If you want to look very tanned - choose creams, sprays or foams that give a more intense shade. If you urgently need the effect of tanned legs with a short dress for a party - you can use creams that give the skin a temporary shade and completely wash off under water. In short, there are definitely solutions, you just need to really want it and, most importantly, realize that sunburn is a really bad idea.

Is it safe to use self-tanning products?

Safety of self-tanning creams. When you start wondering which product to choose, you will surely find more than one article declaring how harmful these creams are and how they harm our skin. But this is definitely not true. The most commonly used substance in self-tanning products is DHA, or more precisely, dihydroxyacetone. A lot of research has been conducted and it has been scientifically proven that it is not toxic, does not penetrate deeper into the skin and practically does not cause allergic reactions. It is completely safe, so do not be afraid to use self-tanning products with this component. However, do not forget to read the label when choosing a product - it is very popular to add alcohol and more fragrances to such creams, trying to neutralize the smell of DHA, which is really specific. I think that the smell left on the skin by self-tanning products is their biggest minus.

It is essential to prepare the skin well.

How to use such creams? It is very important to properly prepare the skin - it must be clean and exfoliated, preferably with a grain-free peeling, and dry areas - elbows, knees, and the sides of the soles - should be applied with a light moisturizing cream or lotion before using the self-tanning cream. Another important thing - the tanning cream should be distributed over the skin very carefully, paying more attention to the folds, knees, elbows, and feet, patiently waiting for the cream to be absorbed and only then getting dressed. Nowadays, the beauty market also offers improvements to tanning creams. You can also buy a glove that helps distribute the cream or foam more evenly. There are also spray products that are supposed to provide a more even tanning effect, I personally don't like them, I never manage to distribute the product properly. My favorite is self-tanning wipes, they are really convenient to cover the entire surface of the skin with, but you will need quite a few of them for the whole body. Another pretty good modern solution that I discovered last summer is a self-tanning shower gel. All you need to do is leave the gel on your body in the shower for a few minutes and then just rinse it off. One of the advantages of rinse-off products is that they have less of the specific DHA smell. So, there are many ways to darken your skin tone. You can also try a spray tan, but it will definitely cost more than a good self-tanning cream, and you will enjoy the brown skin tone for only a few days. In any case, the most important thing is that each of you find the most suitable method and means to avoid sunburn. Although a sun tan looks better and the skin tans more evenly, the damage done does not really compensate for these benefits. I really hope that skin protection will be a priority for each of us in the summer and I wish you to find that perfect self-tanning cream.
