Facial cleansing and exfoliation at home

Driu Beauty shares the basic rules for cleansing your face at home. What are the benefits of electric brushes? How important is acid cleansing? Which facial cleanser should you choose? Beautiful skin is every woman's dream. We all want to have glowing, clear and smooth skin. The possibility of achieving this is really real, it just takes a little desire, effort and a starting point. What could be the starting point? Well, the simplest daily cleansing and exfoliation of the skin.
It seems that skin cleansing is a completely insignificant detail of care that can sometimes be skipped, but in fact it is one of the most important conditions for having beautiful skin. Why is it so important? Because during the day the skin is polluted by dust and dirt from the environment, from excess sebum produced in the skin and rising to the surface, from decorative cosmetics and from residues of skin care products. Therefore, it is very important to remove all dirt on the skin especially well in the evening. There is really more than one way to perform the skin cleansing procedure. The offer is endless – milks, cleansers , gels, cleansing wipes, sponges, electric facial brushes. Let's try to find out which tools are the most effective and efficient.

Facial cleansers

If we ask the question, should it be a wipe-on or a rinse-off product, the answer is unequivocal – use only rinse-off products. Why? Because they clean dirt better, since water is also involved in the process, with the help of which we safely remove all dirt and residues of the cleanser itself from the skin. After all, we do not need the active surface-cleaning substances in the product to remain on the skin, which, if left on the skin for a long time, no matter how gentle they are, can irritate it. However, this happens when we use a leave-on milk or gel for cleansing, which is removed from the skin only with cotton pads. This way, some of the dirt and cleanser really remain on the skin.

Electric facial cleansing brushes

Another very popular question right now is whether to use an electric facial brush for cleansing. Does it make cleansing more effective? There are practically no objective and detailed scientific studies on such brushes, but there are many studies by manufacturers themselves, and they all tend to show that cleansing with a brush is truly more effective than using a cleanser alone. But a cleanser is not the same as a cleanser, one can remove dirt better, another worse. Another important detail that should not be forgotten is the time we spend on cleansing the skin using an electric brush. If we spent the same amount of time on cleansing the skin without a brush, maybe the results would be very similar? There are also many doubts about the cheap and expensive brushes offered by different manufacturers - does an expensive brush really clean better than a cheap one? Is a vibrating brush better than a rotating one? There is no reasonable objective evidence, each manufacturer conducts research only with the brushes they have created, and, of course, they show that it is their device that cleans very effectively, removes dead cells, acts gently, and does not destroy the skin's protective barrier. But what about the cleanliness of the brush itself and its bristles? Is it thoroughly washed after the facial cleansing procedure and is there no dirt left on it? How can you check that the brush is really clean and that bacteria and microbes will not get on your face from it the next time you perform the cleansing procedure? How do you properly clean it after use, is it enough to rinse it with water? For some reason, manufacturers do not conduct such studies, or perhaps do not publish them. One of the options they offer is to change the heads every three months, but is that really enough? Not only do you have to pay a considerable amount for the brush itself, but you also have to buy expensive refills every few months.

Acid peels

It is definitely better to have a care product with acids, the scientific research of which does not raise any doubts - they effectively remove the layer of dead cells, brighten, help clean clogged skin pores, even out skin tone, stimulate cell renewal and collagen production. Only when using them at home, it is important to know that a product with acids that is left on the skin, the pH of which should be 3.5 - 4.0, will be more effective. So, after evaluating all the pros and cons, the recommendation would be this - mandatory skin cleansing in the morning and evening using a gentle but effective rinse-off product, it is definitely not worth spending money on expensive electric brushes, because there is no objectively substantiated evidence of their benefits for skin cleansing. It is definitely better to use a product with acids 2-3 times a week, because it is really effective and proven.
